Do you have a social media post that just rocked? Lots of comments, shares, and conversations came from the information packet post. Is this information on your website?
No, well it should be!
Here are my steps on how to turn great social media content into an evergreen article on your website that keeps traffic coming back even after your social post has aged. Unlike social content articles perform better over time. A blog post needs a month or two before it starts to perform and bring in high-value readers.
How to Repurpose Your Social Post into a High-Performing Article
If you have a carousel or reel that performed well on social media there is a good chance it will also perform well on search. Users often use Google to help find more information on a topic of interest. Your high-value post could become a long-term lead funnel or a great traffic blog that brings more readers to your website.
Setting Up Your Article
To get started take the content of your social post and turn the main points into headings.
Your post is packed full of content. If you take the content in your post and that you used in your caption you likely have a very strong outline for your article. Once your headings are outlined add anecdotes and examples you have used in the past to make your blog even juicer.
In the world of AI anecdotes and stories will win.
It is well known that marketers especially those creating content are starting to use AI to rite their content. I use a hybrid but I still suggest adding your personality and stories from your work and life to make your article more interesting. If you have read an AI-written article recently you will understand it is usually a little dry and written more like a robot.
The better your inputs are on AI the better your output will be. So, if you are going to use AI to write your content and save you time make sure you are very specific with the instructions and include a story or two that the AI can use in your article.
Using Keywords
I always suggest finding two keywords to focus on in your article. Ubersuggest (my favourite free keyword tool) is a great tool for keyword research. Simply type your keyword ideas into the keyword overview section and find keywords that have a search volume of more than 100 searches a month. Difficulty scores are also important a search difficulty above 70 will be really hard to rank for. I often delete keywords that go anywhere above 70 unless the client has a very in-depth content plan and a high domain rating.
Best keywords have <100 searches and >60 difficult scores.
Simply put your best bet is to target long tail keywords (which just means extra information on the keywords) that have a lower difficulty. For example, the keyword SEO has an impossible difficulty score of 81 but the keyword “how to optimize my blog for SEO” has a difficulty of 18.
Since you are here you probably already understand the importance of SEO but if you want to learn what SEO should be doing for your website.
What does search difficulty mean?
Search difficulty means the amount of competition on a keyword. It is calculated by the content quality and the score of the domains currently ranking for that keyword. A difficulty score of 100 means you would need a site like Meta (Facebook) to rank for that keyword. A score of 50 and lower means you have a much higher chance of ranking if you are a small business.
3 Juicy Tips to Help Your Article Rank Higher
Now that you have created an article from your social post it’s time to make sure your article ranks for you! Here are 5 tips to keep in mind to help make sure your article gets you more traffic.
- Add Your Keywords in Your Titles
The two keywords you focused on in your article should be the main points of your article. They should show up in the title or at least one title in your article and show up two or three times throughout your article.
- Your Article Should Never be Shorter Than 300 Words
Google will no longer rank pages and articles under 300 words. The minimum length for a blog in my professional opinion is 500 words or more. If you don’t have 300 words to write string a few good content ideas together and make a list or a blog that talks about a group of topics.
- Link at Least 2 Other Articles on Your Site in Your New Article
Make sure your new readers can binge your content by making it easy for them to know what to read next. Internal links help people see more articles related to the content they are interested in. This keeps them on your site longer, gets them to read more pages and signals to Google that your content should be ranked higher because you are giving your readers the content they want to view!
