Tips to Write The Best Blog Post
Each blog you post has a different job on your website. It can be to build an email list, capture leads, or get more traffic to your website. If your blog is specifically to rank for a keyword and get more organic traffic to your website your blog is required to be a minimum length.
That length depends on the keyword you are targeting. Here is an outline of what I would suggest as an SEO specialist.
If the keyword difficulty is:
- 0-50: Aim for 500 words or more.
- 51-74: Opt for at least 750 words.
- 75-85: Consider a length of 1,000 words or more.
- 86-90: Strive for around 1,400 words.
- 91+: Focus on improving your domain rank first.
A blog should never be less than 300 words. If you have a blog that is short I advise adding more topics to build out length and ensure that you can actually rank for a keyword. Length is not all that matters when it comes to ranking for a keyword but it is a common error people make. If you have a super short blog and your competition has a well rounded blog 2 times your length you are less likely to rank.
Long form content in blogs is often outperforming short form content. Make sure that your blog also has lots of structure including heading, bullets, and lists to make it easy to read. Here are a few extra tips to get your blog to rank and actually bring you more traffic.
To ensure your blog stands out and performs well, follow these steps:
- Check the Competition: Take a peek at what’s ranking for your main keyword on Google. Review the top three articles and ensure yours covers all relevant points.
- Add Value: Consider incorporating one or two extra insights or perspectives to give your content an edge and provide additional value to your readers.
The Difference Between Organic and Paid Traffic
Organic traffic is very valuable. Unlike paid traffic, which demands an advertising budget, organic traffic is earned through your SEO efforts. Paid traffic comes from a push marketing strategy meaning you’re pushing your message and hoping to bring someone in while organic search is someone truly looking to solve a problem or find a specialist that can answer their question.
But why prioritize organic traffic over other marketing channels?
Organic traffic is remarkably cost-effective. Instead of pouring money into ads with uncertain returns, investing in SEO can drive sustainable, long-term traffic to your site. Organic traffic fosters trust and credibility with your audience. When users discover your website through organic search results, they’re more inclined to engage with your content and evolve into loyal customers.
Increasing Your Organic Traffic
Keywords serve as the bridge between users and your website’s content. But how do you find the right keywords to attract your target audience?
It all starts with keyword research. Using tools like Google Keyword Planner or Ubersuggest to discover which terms and phrases are most relevant to your industry and audience. Look for keywords with high search volume and low competition to maximize your chances of ranking well in search results.
Once you’ve identified your target keywords, incorporate them strategically into your website’s content through a process known as content optimization. This involves placing keywords in your titles, headings, and body copy to signal to search engines that your content is relevant to a particular topic.
